November 30th Update

We are still waiting on the right of way permits. However, I was told today that the work will take eight days, and that the contractor will be working on the weekends.

I will change the volunteer sign up to reflect these changes. Anyone who has expressed an interest in volunteering will receive an email once the permits are granted, so you can sign up for the dates and jobs you would like to assist with.

Thank you everyone for your patience with this!!! We will get this done 🙂

November 28th Update

811 locates are essentially complete, still waiting on Xcel Energy on S. Pratt Pkwy island. Permits, and the ok to start, were not obtained prior to the holiday weekend. So, we were forced to wait until at least Monday to start the project. I figured I would give this a rest for the weekend so everyone could enjoy time with their families.

Hopefully, all will be in order by tomorrow and work will be started by afternoon sometime. I was originally told the deadline was November 30th, but was informed last week that we actually have until December 3rd. This is quickly approaching, and it will be difficult to organize the community volunteer hours with such a short timeline.

Please let us know if you are able to assist during the week at all by contacting us here. Also, you can sign up using the sign up sheet here.

November 18th Update

We’ve had a few delays, but hopefully work can begin tomorrow. We are currently waiting on right of way permits and 811 locating.

At the moment, the plan is for the city to transport the logs to the site when Loco is ready for them. I had added this task to the volunteer list for people who may have a truck or trailer they could use. Not sure we will need this resource for this particular task, but if you have a truck and would like to help out, please let us know so we can ask if the need arises.

I will be updating the volunteer sign up to reflect the delays we have experienced. I still do not know for sure when we will be starting, but am really hoping for tomorrow. If we don’t, I will let everyone know.

Thank you for your patience with this!!!

Virtual Volunteer Sign Up Now Available!

We now have a virtual sign up sheet available.

I have entered all tasks that are pressing right now, and am still working on this. This will be a very fluid process, and will change frequently. If you see a task that needs to be added, or think of something that I have not, please let me know!

This ball is moving very quickly now, and we have about two weeks (with a holiday thrown in as well!) to get this project completed. Any assistance with keeping the ball going in the right direction will be appreciated 🙂 We need to think of every minute detail and have a plan to accomplish it – lots of coordination with the City, Loco Landscaping and volunteers.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!!!

Sign Project Phase 1 Update – Nov 12, 2021

The NIP and SNS Project committees got together last night to discuss when they will begin/end, the work flow of Loco Landscaping and Construction and how to integrate community volunteers into the projects.

Work is slated to start on Tuesday, November 16th. We are not sure which location will be done first, but the last one will be the SNS Project at the corner of S. Coffman and Missouri. Work by Loco Landscaping and Construction is planned to be completed by Friday, November 19th. The scope of their work involves moving rock, removing dirt and weeds, digging holes, grading and leveling, placing barrier, etc.

Volunteer Opportunities Currently Available

We will be needing a team of at least two community volunteers during this entire initial phase of working with Loco L&C. One person will need to help provide safety to motorists, pedestrians, etc. by directing them appropriately around the construction area. We will need a second person to assist with addressing any questions that may arise by Loco L&C during the process by calling appropriate team members to find answers. This is to eliminate the need for the contractor to make judgement calls that should be directed to the project leaders.

Saturday, November 20th we will need volunteers to assist with setting Torii Gates into the ground, waterproofing/tarring the stumps, setting stumps into the ground and spreading gravel.

We could also utilize people to provide snacks and/or lunches on all work days – similar to a Habitat for Humanity volunteer assignment, if you’ve ever worked with them.

This weekend, we are still passing out flyers to let the community know about the project and to get more volunteer involvement. If anyone wants to help out, please let us know!!!

We will be having a neighborhood celebration when the work is completed – sometime before December 3rd. If you would like to help with planning for this, you can contact us here, or contact Leslie Irvine directly at 720-442-4878 or irvinelesliej@gmail.com.

Looking forward to the future, these four locations are just the beginning, and we will need to apply for more grant money to complete the subsequent phases. We would like all existing entryways to be upgraded, and would like to see additional signage at locations that do not currently have one (Lefthand, Sherman, South end of S. Coffman, etc.). So, if you have experience, or would like to gain experience, in this realm, please let us know!

I am currently fielding all volunteer requests through the contact form, but am looking at volunteer forms that could be integrated into the website. So, if I get that figured out, it may make it easier. For now, just contact us to let us know of your interest, dates and times available and what you would like to help with.

Any and all volunteers will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for all the response to date! We have an awesome community of people here!!!

Hello There!

This website was created to help communication among the many residents of Southmoor Park. It is expensive and takes a lot of time to communicate via door to door flyers – although it is great to talk to people in person 🙂

Neighborhood News and important information will be posted here. Please sign up for notifications if you are interested, or just check back once in a while. If you have information that you would like to share with the neighborhood, just let us know!

Feel free to introduce yourself here if you want!
